J-1 비자 waiver (1) - 서류준비 및 우편발송송

J-1 비자 웨이버 신청

슬슬 문호가 열릴 것 같아 9월에 waiver 준비 하면서 간만에 포스팅을 준비했는데, 게을러서 포스팅 안하고 밍기적대는 그 사이에 J-1 waiver가 필요 없게 되어버렸다. 좋은 소식인데, 이미 서류 준비 다 해서 보내버린 입장에서는 조금 아쉽기도 하네...

절차

주미 한국 영사관 게시판에 대략 설명되어 있다. J-1 비자 소개하는 미국 정부 페이지 하나로 대부분의 설명을 퉁쳤기에.. 조금 헷갈리기도 하는데, 이 페이지의 순서를 따라가면 될 것 같다.

1. DS-3035 온라인 신청 링크

• 아래 문구가 있는데, 이게 최종 서류 제출을 온라인으로 할 수 없다는 것 같다. DS-3035는 여전히 온라인신청

  IMPORTANT: It is not currently possible to "submit" the data electronically, or to pay any fees online. All documentation and fees must continue to be mailed to the Department of State.
  

• 아래 서류를 준비해놓고 시작해야 한다. (나에게 해당 안되는 것은 취소선) 작성에 90분의 시간제한이 있다고 한다.

  • Any passport of the exchange visitor containing his/her U.S. visas
  • Legible copies of all DS-2019 or IAP-66 forms
  • Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney or Representative (G-28) (if applicable)
  • Names and dates of birth of any J-2 dependents (spouse or children) and/or the EV's J-1 spouse (if applicable)
  • I-94 Departure Record card (if still in the U.S.)
  • Alien Registration "A" Number (if applicable)

2. 미국 Department of State에 보낼 서류 준비

다운로드받은 App packet 첫 페이지에 필요한 서류들이 나열되어 있다. 이걸 출력하고, 추가 서류를 챙겨야 한다.

• Application fee: $120 머니오더 or cashier's check
• Waiver Review Division Barcode Page: App Packet 2페이지에 있음
• Form DS-3035, pages 1,2 and 3 *: App packet에 앞서 작성한 정보가 출력되어 있음. 서명해서 보내야 함.
• Supplementary Applicant Information pages: 이것도 App Packet에 포함되어 있음.
• Copy of the data page of the EV's current passport containing name and birth date: 여권사본 준비
• Copies of all forms DS-2019: 그간 DS-2019 전부 사본 만들어서 준비
• Statement of Reason: 마찬가지로 한문장이면 되는 듯 한데, 어차피 한국 영사관에 영문버전도 보내야 하니 같이 동봉
• Additional items as indicated by the applicant: 이건 무시해도 되는듯.

The Waiver Review Division will forward a recommendation directly to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

3. 영사관에 보낼 서류 준비
   샌프란시스코 영사관에 자세히 설명되어 있음

• 귀국의무면제 통지 공한 신청서 (첨부양식, 반드시 서명 필요)
• 귀국의무면제신청사유서 국문 (본인 서명 필요)
• J-1 비자 취득경위서 (한글로 구체적 설명, 본인 서명 필요)
• 귀국의무면제신청사유서 영문 (본인 서명 필요)
• 한글 이력서
• 한국여권 사본
• 미국입국비자(J-1) 사본
• I-94 Form 사본
• IAP-66 Form 또는 DS-2019 전체페이지 사본
• 미국무부의 case number 서한(Third Party Barcode Page) 사본
• 귀국의무면제 확인서 (첨부양식)

4. USPS에서 우편발송
   DoS와 영사관에 각각 USPS에서 발송하면 된다. 서류에 오류가 있으면 다시 발송하거나 직접 방문해야 하므로 시간 손실 없게 잘 준비해야 한다.
